What Is Recommendation?

For years, marketing focused on helping people find a business. Today, the opportunity is bigger.

Organizations want to become part of the answer.

Lesson 7 | How Authority Leads to Recommendation

For decades, developers invested significant time building relationships with the brokerage community because brokers were the primary source of market knowledge. They understood the projects, the developers, the neighborhoods, and the stories behind each opportunity. The better informed they were, the stronger their recommendations became. That relationship remains just as important today.

What’s changing is that buyers are increasingly gathering information before they ever speak with a broker. They’re asking intelligent systems many of the same questions they once asked a trusted real estate professional:

  • Which new communities should I consider?
  • Which developers have the strongest reputation?
  • What projects are making the most progress?
  • What makes one opportunity different from another?

Those systems don’t replace expertise. They rely on it. Just as brokers make stronger recommendations when they have better information, intelligent systems make better recommendations when they have access to relevant, accurate, and well-supported information.

That changes how developers must think about marketing. It’s no longer enough to communicate only with the brokerage community. Organizations must also ensure that the digital information surrounding their projects is continually strengthened with meaningful, relevant evidence. Every thoughtful article, project update, milestone, interview, media story, and market insight becomes another opportunity to strengthen that digital understanding.

The goal isn’t to persuade every source to recommend your organization.

The goal is to ensure every source has the information it needs to make a well-informed recommendation.
